A tapas house in the heart of Jávea
Founded in 1939 on Plaça de Baix, right in Jávea’s historic centre, Bar Imperial still serves time-honoured tapas at its bar and on its terrace.
On Plaça de Baix since 1939
Bar Imperial is a house founded in 1939 that has kept its identity to this day. It stands at number 2 Plaça de Baix, the square in Jávea’s old town next to the church of Sant Bertomeu and the Town Hall, and it opens early: from coffee and breakfast to lunch, dinner and the last drink of the night.
Tapas from the sea and the garden
The menu is made up of tapas for sharing. In summer, the terrace tables are ruled by the fish omelette, tellinas (wedge clams), steamed mussels, chanquetes, grilled sardines and figatells, alongside bar classics such as calamari a la romana, octopus, grilled cuttlefish and grilled vegetables.
Today it goes by Imperial Xabia, “tapas and grill”: tradition, produce and fire, with Iberian pork cuts such as pluma and secreto cooked over the coals alongside the classic griddle dishes.
