Mediterranean design shaped by the Cretan landscape
At Villa Ayeria, architecture opens onto the Cretan landscape, making terraces, water and natural light part of everyday life. Vondom's Gatsby, Milos, Love, Africa and Sabinas collections shape a residence that interprets Mediterranean luxury through calm, comfort and a close relationship with the outdoors.
Located in Panormo, near Rethymno and just a short walk from the sea, Villa Ayeria sits among clear waters, traditional Cretan architecture and mineral-toned hills. Designed for up to twelve guests, the residence features six bedrooms, generous terraces and a 100-square-metre infinity pool that forms the visual centre of the property.
Water also appears in a children's pool and a wellness area with a heated indoor pool, sauna and gym. Yet the project's most distinctive quality is not the number of amenities, but the way it extends daily life outdoors.
Architecture, shade and landscape
Terraces, balconies and covered areas blur the boundary between inside and outside. Large glazed openings keep the pool, sea and landscape within view, while deep overhangs provide shade during the warmest hours.
White architecture, timber and sand-coloured flooring create a quiet backdrop. Against it, outdoor furniture supports different ways of living: relaxing beside the water, talking beneath the terrace or gathering around a large table.
Kaloterakis Group developed the interior and furnishing scheme. The Cretan company specialises in residential and contract furniture, kitchens, hotel equipment and bespoke solutions, bringing a restrained and functional language to the contemporary villa.
Gatsby: geometry beside the pool
The infinity pool is the heart of the project. Along one side, Gatsby sun loungers by Ramón Esteve for Vondom reinforce the horizontal composition with clean, orderly lines. Their neutral finish allows them to sit naturally beside the paving and water without interrupting the view.
Milos: an outdoor living room
In the lounge areas, Milos armchairs and modular sofas by Jean-Marie Massaud bring indoor comfort to the terrace. Their organic volumes and light, earthy textiles soften the straight lines of the architecture. Africa armchairs by Eugeni Quitllet create quieter moments on the upper balconies.
Love and Sabinas: colour as a continuous thread
The dining area introduces the project's strongest colour accent. Love chairs by Eugeni Quitllet appear mainly in the Clay finish, echoing Cretan earth. Two Sabinas chairs by Javier Mariscal, finished in Ecru, balance the composition at either end of the table.
A calm way of living the Mediterranean
Villa Ayeria offers an idea of luxury removed from excess. Space, natural light, proximity to the sea and the freedom to use the outdoors throughout the day define the experience.
