Gastrónoma 2023 closed its celebration successfully, delighting attendees with a wide variety of culinary delights.
The gastronomic event was a complete success, becoming the sector’s benchmark. Thousands of hospitality professionals, bakers, confectioners and producers gathered at Gastrónoma in search of new business opportunities in the gastronomic field. The institutions recognized the importance of this fair both for the sector and for gastronomic tourism, offering their support.
In its 9th edition, held at Feria Valencia during three intense days, Gastrónoma consolidated its position as the sector’s main event. Various activities were carried out, such as days dedicated to charcoal, a panettone competition and the fusion of culinary tradition with avant-garde cuisine, generating synergies and sharing knowledge.
Thanks to Gastrónoma, Valencia was recognized as the world capital of gastronomy. In the 2023 edition, the fair had the participation of 272 exhibiting brands and more than 230 speakers, occupying a space of 27,000 square meters. In addition, the institutional visit of the President of the Generalitat Valenciana, Carlos Mazón, accompanied by Nuria Montes, Regional Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism, demonstrated the support the event received.
The participants answered questions and performed culinary and enological tests. In the final, the contestants prepared a starter and a main course in a set time, accompanied by a wine. The dishes were evaluated by a jury made up of industry representatives and the gastronomic press.
The three finalists of the competition were awarded with trips, a cash prize and a tasting menu at the Bon Amb Restaurant in Xàbia, which has two Michelin stars.
The Divino Gourmet Contest was sponsored by Grupo Choví, Montesano, the Federation of Hotel and Catering Businesses of Valencia, Remittel, Verallia, Diam Corchos, Argraf, Estal and Vinventions. In addition, Supermercados El Corte Inglés, Consultia Travel, Queli and Agua Sierra de Cazorla collaborated in the event.
The menu also included innovative proposals such as shrimp carpaccio, fig, avocado and lime by Rocío Riquelme (Marufina), cochinita pibil croquette with soy mayonnaise and tequila by Carlos García (Dexcaro, Denia), and cod brandade with salted fish and sourdough cocopan croutons by Jose Maria Sanchez and Iris Rebecca Wolf (Apyrita Restaurant). The sweet touch came from the hand of Kiko Corrochano (MR Cover LAB) with his mini panettone Sal de Torrevieja, grapes of the bush, oranges and honey field Guardamar, a finalist in the contest Best Artisan Panettone, Iberian Peninsula 2023. Accompanying these delicacies, the selection of wines from the Alicante Denomination of Origin added a perfect touch to this unique culinary experience.
