Leading names in the country's cuisine, along with regional producers, artisans and restaurateurs, paid tribute to the products of the garden and the hands that grow them.
A great gastronomic festival open to the public
Dénia, September 28, 2024. The D*na Festival, the great event of Mediterranean gastronomy, has inaugurated its seventh edition, kicking off a weekend full of flavor, tradition and innovation. The Paseo de la Marineta Cassiana in Dénia (Alicante) has become, once again, the culinary epicentre of the Mediterranean, celebrating the rich gastronomic culture of the region and paying tribute to the products of the garden and the hands that grow them.
The inauguration of the festival has had the participation of important public figures and from the gastronomic field, including the president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Carlos Mazón; the regional minister for Innovation, Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Nuria Montes; the mayor of Dénia and president of the Fundació Creativa Dénia, Vicent Grimalt; and the chef and gastronomic commissioner of D*na, Quique Dacosta.
Together they have made the extensive tour of the festival, learning first-hand about the wide range of local products on display by producers, restaurateurs and chefs from the region.
Vicent Grimalt has highlighted the importance of this event in the consolidation of local gastronomy: “This seventh D*na is a celebration of our land and those who work it. We dedicate this weekend to those farmers and producers who make it possible for us to have local products of the highest quality in our markets. It is a recognition of their effort.”
For his part, and as the event’s gastronomic commissioner, the chef with three Michelin stars, Quique Dacosta, has highlighted the cultural and social impact of the festival: “The D*na Festival makes sense because it has become an extraordinary tool for Dénia, the Marina Alta and the Valencian Community. This weekend has not only been about gastronomy, but it has been the voice of the public that has given true meaning to this meeting. We will continue working to ensure that D*na remains a valid platform for all those who, with their dedication, promote our gastronomic culture.”
