For the 58th edition of Casa Decor in 2023, they have chosen a splendid residential building on the street Serrano 92, semi-corner with Juan Bravo.
Casa Decor was born in 1992 in the Barrio de Salamanca, where it has held 13 editions (Goya, Velázquez, Pº de Recoletos, Pº de la Castellana, Príncipe de Vergara, Jorge Juan, etc.), for the first time it landed in the emblematic Serrano street. This fact has not been circumstantial, but chosen with the intention of holding a deluxe edition in one of the most iconic commercial arteries of the capital. In this way, it is an edition that is naturally integrated into the exclusive offer that offers the Golden Mile of Madrid.
In total, 50 spaces were adapted that were intervened by the most important professionals and firms in the sector. Despite its rehabilitation as offices, some spaces still retained traces of the old houses: high ceilings, melis pine floors, wooden balconies, ironwork and doors from the period.
TRENDS
The aesthetic diversity of the 2023 edition offers a very heterogeneous trend scene, where the different influences of styles coexist in an outbreak of creative freedom that is difficult to pigeonhole. However, it is possible to highlight some decorative resources, inspirations and themes that ratify or advance some of these trends.
Some projects have taken as a point of reference the neoclassical design of the building, inspired in turn by the Parisian houses of the Saint-Germain district. Others, for their part, have found inspiration in the explosive mix of figures and color patterns, typical of the Memphis style; while in some spaces, a revision of the legacy of Le Courbusier has been made, both in its fine color palette, and in its functionalist style and precursor of brutalism.
PARTICIAPANT ENTERPRISES
In this edition we have brought together 152 companies, from all over the world and very varied sectors. 50% are foreigners, coming from the European Union (France, Belgium, Germany, Sweden, Portugal, the Netherlands and Poland), Switzerland, the United States and Japan. A wide representation is provided by Denmark and Italy, with institutional space, carried out by COMAD Arquitectos and Beatriz Silveira respectively. The remaining 50% are Spanish, from highly competitive regions such as the Valencian Community, Madrid, Castilla y León, La Rioja, Andalusia and Castilla-La Mancha.
In 2020, they launched the #CasaDecorSostenible campaign for the first time in order to publicize, make visible and inform about products, materials and projects that work in line with respect for and protection of the environment. Today, more than a campaign, it is a mandatory principle of all activities in the sector. Companies and professionals work together in the same direction, towards a PASSIVHAUS architecture, with local suppliers and artisans, organic materials from respectful extraction and production, recycled and recyclable, efficient and clean energy systems. We continue and will continue to work for sustainability in all production, manufacturing and execution processes, because they are aware that they have a responsibility as prescribers and platform for the sector.
