Azul Mediterráneo - Carlos Serra

Azul Mediterráneo - Carlos Serra

The interior designer Carlos Serra bets on blue as the protagonist in this very Mediterranean house in which the living room, of large dimensions, is the backbone and where everything happens.

To give warmth to this large space, Serra has opted for natural oak, with which he has dressed the flooring, stairs and a large fireplace that becomes one of the landmarks of the house.

A large L-shaped sofa in front of the fireplace and two tables with a very light structure and white ceramic top make up the living room, a living room in which the main wall represents, through a textured paper, several arches as windows overlooking our Mediterranean sea. An intense blue that is also reflected in two poufs in front of the coffee tables that visually close the living room.

The Valencian interior designer’s taste for ethnic pieces is clearly evident in a collection of baskets woven in natural Mexican palm that intermingle with antique wooden vessels from Indonesia and oil lamps from Sri Lanka located in the succession of bronze-colored glass shelves on the side of the fireplace.

Next we find the dining room, where two large lamps immediately catch our attention, the lighting marks the dining area, where the table and six upholstered armchairs with oak legs are located.

In the kitchen the oak continues to be the main protagonist with a large central island where the fires are located, but also a small bar for breakfast or a drink while interacting with the cook.

Upstairs we find the bedrooms, where the textured papers mark the rooms, in the master bedroom has opted for a paper in natural tones, two pouf as foot of bed and a cozy chaise longue chair by the window to create a space that invites relaxation and reading. Also striking are the night lamps that break with the traditional symmetrical table lamp. On the other hand, the children’s room bears an unmistakable marinaro stamp through the paper creating a very vital and strong space.in the succession of bronze-colored glass shelves on the side of the fireplace.

In short, a house of large dimensions that perfectly blends functionality, elegance and warmth, a difficult balance that Carlos Serra masters to perfection and has become one of its hallmarks.
