Tomás Crisóstomo, partner at KVC Construction S.L., often says that “a villa’s personality is born in the details,” and Villa Siri, in Dénia, perfectly embodies this philosophy. Its interior reveals exceptional attention to handcrafted elements, such as the natural clay archways, which lend character, authenticity, and a unique identity to the home.

The arcades of Villa Siri’s courtyard, clearly inspired by Cordoba, were designed to create a warm and inviting atmosphere reminiscent of the villages of southern Spain. The succession of arches, the softly filtered light, the defined shadows, and the vibrant color of the geraniums shape a space steeped in tradition, sensitively reinterpreted.

The technique employed by the KVC team is based on a carefully studied composition, executed by hand. The intrados of each arch is made of natural clay pieces of varying sizes, molded and placed by hand. Each arch is composed of three elements: a 60 cm central piece and two 15 cm side pieces, arranged in an alternating pattern to create the characteristic “interlocking arch” effect. This system not only adds aesthetic value but also creates a visual rhythm and a play of volumes perceptible even from a distance. The interlocking of the natural clay provides depth and texture, resulting in an authentic and unique finish, difficult to reproduce using standard construction methods.

The final touch comes with the grouting, a crucial detail that, for Tomás, makes all the difference. It is done with a dark, water-repellent material, applied with a setback of approximately one centimeter, which maximizes the contrast, texture, and color of the natural clay. This final step not only protects and defines each piece but also lends a more sophisticated interpretation to the whole. The result is a courtyard of great aesthetic power, where the arches, crafted with skill and artistry, acquire their own distinct character and elevate the architecture of the space.
